TSI SPORTS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Salary £19,000 - £22,000
Fixed Term until 30th September 2018, initially
37 hours per week
TS1 is a community sports club which develops and delivers sports programmes for the benefit of the local community residing in the postcode area of TS1. TS1 aims to inspire and encourage all members of the TS1 Community to achieve their ambitions for sporting excellence, increased sports participation and improved health by:
GROWING THE BME FOOTBALL OFFER developing and promoting inclusive, competitive football activities for players, coaches and administrators
DEVELOPING TASTER SESSIONS FOR ALL encouraging all members of the TS1 Community to access regular sports activities suitable to their abilities and needs
DEVELOPING THE TS1 MODEL to ensure TS1 is fit for purpose, capable of meeting the needs of the TS1 Community in a sustainable and exemplary manner
GENERATING POSITIVE HEALTH IMPACTS by providing targeted sports and physical activities to tackle the health needs of the TS1 Community
An opportunity has arisen within TS1 for a Sport Development Officer that will drive forward these ambitious plans to engage and motivate the TS1 Community in regular and sustained sports activities.
Educated to degree level, you will work with TS1, Tees Valley Sport and Tees Valley Community Foundation to instigate, deliver and monitor a range of projects for the benefit of the TS1 Community.
You must have a proven track record of effective sport project delivery in a community setting, plus a solid understanding of the role of public, private and voluntary sector agencies in promoting and delivering effective sport intervention initiatives. Good social media skills are also advantageous.
A flexible and independent approach is essential, including working evenings and weekends. Candidates must be sensitive to the cultural norms of the TS1 Community and act in an appropriate manner at all times. The successful candidate must hold a current and valid driving license and have access to a motor vehicle for work purposes.

JOB TITLE: SPORT DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
STARTING SALARY: £19,000 – £22,000
RESPONSIBLE TO: TS1 Board Members
Purpose of Post
To provide an effective and efficient sport and recreation service to the current and future clients of TS1.
Relationships
To work with all sections of the local community, including individuals and groups, in promoting the provision, availability and benefits of active participation in sport and recreation.
To work in partnership with all sections of Tees Valley Sport and Tees Valley Community Foundation, to co-ordinate programmes of activity/services which meet the needs of the community located in the TS1 post code area, and other areas as deemed appropriate
To establish and maintain liaison with local, regional and national agencies to the benefit of services to the TS1 local community
To ensure the effective and efficient delivery of sport and health related programmes, with a particular emphasis on engaging women and girls, young people, disabled individuals and older people.
Duties/Responsibilities
To develop, promote and increase participation in sport, physical activity and leisure activities to the widest possible audience, with particular emphasis on low participation and under-represented groups.
To develop targeted programmes of activity, special events and initiatives in consultation with colleagues and external agencies, maximising the opportunities offered by Tees Valley Sport and Tees Valley Community Foundation in particular.
To produce promotional materials including posters, leaflets, newsletters and updating the TS1 website.
To lead sport activity sessions, courses and/or training programmes as required at multiple venues across Middlesbrough and Teesside
To build relationships with key activity providers, coaches and volunteers and attend associated networking events.
To coordinate all aspects of TS1’s Volunteer Policy, particularly relating to the recruitment of new volunteers and training provision.
To assist in the forward planning for TS1 and to assist in the development of plans or bids aimed at securing resources for the continual improvement of the delivery of services.
To coordinate the preparation of estimates for programmes of activity and to ensure financial control over these and any other sport and physical activity budgets or externally funded projects within their remit.
To assist in applying for and promoting funding and sponsorship opportunities for TS1 enabling their ongoing development.
To develop with the support of Tees Valley Sport a monitoring and the evaluation system to properly record activity, producing regular reports and statistical information detailing progress as required.
To implement at all time, all policies relating to TS1 and Tees Valley Sport activity and attend all TS1 Board meetings as required.
To promote in a positive manner the work of Tees Valley Community Foundation and Tees Valley Sport.
Any other duties of a related nature which might reasonably be required
